Running superstitions

Labels: ,

After nearly two years without a race, I seem to be slipping into old routines and habits without thinking about them.
Today I found my sons first trainers and tied one of them to my bag for luck (something I've done since he grew out of them).
Another odd little routine I have (at least for a run that I've been building up to) is to buy a new pair of running socks and keep them in the packaging until the big day.
I'm not normally a superstitious person and I really don't believe they bring me luck, but I still do these things and wonder if a little routine like this helps to get in to the right frame of mind for an event.
Do you have any unusual pre-race routines?
If so, use the comments link to share them with the world.

Always porridge with fresh blueberries and toasted walnuts, drizzled with lots of honey - http://www.gofasterfood.com/?p=130, but I have a couple of friends who routinely actually eat pasta for brekkie...apparently it goes down well with a cup of tea. My only other routine is that I seem to hoard safety pins just in case! I could never run in brand new running socks just in case I didn't like them...
